Grab your silhouette cameo and learn how to make a star wall hanging. AND- don’t miss the surprise! It GLOWS!
You guys! This project turned out so cute! It’s My PURPLE project for silhouette (You can see my RED project here) I wanted to make a cute stars wall hanging– You could totally made this a mobile by adding a moon and phrase to the back so it looks good from both sides. And the best part–check out how it glows!
I cut this all out with my Silhouette Cameo 3
If you need help with your Silhouette Cameo – check out my silhouette Love series-where I teach you to love your silhouette as much as I love my silhouette!
Supplies you need to make your star wall hanging
- hoop (grabbed mine from Hobby Lobby macramé section)
- chipboard
- macrame (or ribbon)
- string (or twine)
- glow in the dark sticker paper
- Holographic sticker paper
- Purple scrapbook paper
- hot glue
I also used these designs from the silhouette store
- Stars: design #66739
- Moon: design #197758 (I ungrouped and took out the score lines)
- Love you more design# 331395
But if you type in stars or moon- there are so many cute quotes that would be darling with this!
How to make the moon
I glued on some space scrapbook paper on top of the chipboard and then cut it out. You could also stick some space patterned vinyl on top as well. Cutting chipboard is really easy- You will need to do a double pass and then have your blade pretty deep! I made the moon just a tad bigger than the hoop so I could hot glue it right to it!
How to make the Stars
I just cut out all different sizes and shapes of stars- I wanted to be able to put them on the front and back so the stars look good from any direction when hanging!
I added in glow in the dark and the holographic stars to add some fun elements to look at.
Assembling the Star Wall Hanging
I took hot glue and twine and just sandwiched two stars with the twine. I did stars all the way down the twine.
Then just tied it directly to the hoop.
The wall hanging looks good just as is- but I wanted to add something to hang it with- So I tied up some macrame to add a little something extra!
You could add some twinkle lights hanging down and hide the battery pack behind the moon.
The best part about this is when the lights go out!
I can’t believe how well the glow in the dark sticker paper works!
You could take this basic idea and swap the stars out for butterflies! all different colors and patterns of butterflies! It would look so cool!
