I had this file cabinet that is very useful..
and black.
and plain..
so it thought…let’s slap some patterned vinyl on there and make it pretty…cause life’s too short to have boring things…
and i chose this pretty teal polka dot…
and grabbed a ruler, pencil, scissors (and an exacto knife (not pictured…well..it’s pictured later…) and my two drawer file used a 12×24 piece of vinyl (i had to piece the bottom a little around the lock)
I just wanted to cover the fronts of the cabinet and i found out it helps to pull out the drawer at little while you do it…
i just cut the vinyl to size…and unpeeled the backing off a little ways and attached the top…then i started smoothing it down and then i would take a little more off the back and smooth that down…it went really quick!
but i was left with the handle all covered….
see..here’s the exacto knife! i just cut out around it! (you could totally be anal and measure and have it all cut before hand…but anal ain’t my style)
i just got legs for my desk (from ikea) so my desk actually looks relatively clean (for today)
and here’s so more great ideas that you could do with a file cabinet (or dresser) with vinyl…

Congratulations on PR&P.; I've been trying to decide on a fashion icon since I read the themes. I'll be sewing for boys if I manage to sew along so haven't found it as easy to decide. It's a really fun theme though.
I love all the vinyl ideas too.

Are you reading my mind? Haha I was just thinking about adding a safari touch to a filing cabinet for my craft room (the whole room is safari themed) and I was trying to decide how to do it.
I don't have a Cameo so while I love all your vinyl projects I never really get to put them to use….but this is right up my alley! Thanks!

Neat! I can see where this would get really addicting, wanting to cover everything in sight 😉
