[…] They are super cute–and a great activity for kids to do for their moms on mothers day. I just cut the string (it’s stretchy) extra long and tied a knot on the end and then my daughter laid out her design and filled up the string! After it was perfect I snipped off the knot and added a crimp bead! (if you need help with crimp beads you can go HERE) […]

Really cute bracelets, but.... (sorry I was a daycare teacher for too long not to say this).... most of the beads at JoAnns are not marked for content, so the metal ones are probably plated and who knows what under that. Little ones put things in their mouths and this could lead to lead poisoning. Additionally, the bracelets pose a choking hazard, and not only if the come undone! While that is a worry, if the child manages to pull the bracelet off the wrist, they could choke on the bracelet as a whole - same for the binky click thingy. General rule is, if it fits in the diameter of a film can, don't give it to an infant/toddler. So, the bracelets are cute for photo ops, but after that, please put them up in the baby book!

I've used crimp beads + elastic before and the powerful smushing of the crimp beads have torn right through the elastic. Not immediately, but after a few uses when I put it on it just snapped and the beads flew everywhere. Any idea how to fix that? Or are crimp beads and elastic a forbidden match?

I am so glad you posted this! I received a jewelry kit for Christmas and I had no idea what to do with it! And Crimp beads? Yeah, no clue what those were for. I just tied knots which always come apart and aren't nearly as neat looking. Now, I am off to go make some jewelry!
