Beaded Mask lanyard

Create these beaded mask lanyard to help from losing all your masks! You can take your mask off and let them hang and they will still be there when you are ready to put them back on! how-to-make-a-beaded-mask-lanyard

This fun beaded lanyard will hopefully keep you from losing masks! I always pull my down when I get in the car. It lands in my lap and when I get it out of the car–it lands on the ground (ew~) And I know kids can pull their masks down at recess when they are outside- and that results in lots of lost masks!

You can make this beaded lanyard with…just beads! But we are taking this a step further and making this with perler beads! Perler beads are super light which means the Mask Lanyard won’t be heavy on your neck. To add even more fun-We are melting some perler beads! Get teh whole details below!

Supplies to make beaded mask lanyard

How to melt perler beads

Perler beads are made to melt. That’s how they adhere together to make projects. BUT we want to melt this just a little bit! I placed them apart so they don’t stick together.

Just low heat and press. The perler bead bucket comes with the parchment sheet to cover as you melt.

Your goal is to melt the perler beads but keep the hole. You are going to thread this and it’s so much easier if the hole is still visible.

I put the parchment paper over and flip the tray upside down! I peeled it off. Some get stick…just pop off and place. Then press that side as well.

Once done you will have little perler beads just like this:

How to make a Beaded mask lanyard

Thread your needle with your fishing line and started adding your perler beads.

They look so fun when all stacked together!

You can make these however long you want. We did about 12 inches.

Then you are going to add a hook on each end. I tied off my fishing line and added a crimp bead. You can also add a little e6000 to ensure it won’t break!

Then just clip on to your mask!

and you can let it hang like a fancy mask necklace!

You can mix up and put melted beads with regular perler beads for a cool different look.

You can also just use regular perler beads- no need to melt! Still fun! These are also great for littler kids. Just thread it on the fishing line – no needle since the hole is big enough.

I had to make a bunch of colors to match all the masks we have made over the last year!

You can also do the fun melted perler beads and just turn them into jewelry.

We turned some into cute bracelets!

I also wrote up a post all about my favorite mask pattern if you are looking for one to sew up!

And if you want to know what to do with all those leftover perler beads- check out this Perler beads roundup! so many cute ideas!
