“The Laughing Cow® provided me with product and a $50 gift card for this review. However, thoughts and opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the brand.”Now that my kids are in school our routines have gotten so crazy. Football, scouts, cheerleading, gymnastic, pta meetings, church callings, (I could go on and on and on) Our weeks are just jammed pack. I feel like most days I live in the car! So I made a “deal” with my kids…Every Saturday we will get up and crank out our chores (They have to have their room cleans and then do 2 chores around the house–wipe down baseboards, clean windows, vacuum the stairs etc) When we get it all done we get to do something fun! Last week we took advantage of the nice weather and went ice blocking! Basically sledding in grass!
Here is what you need:
- Blocks of ice
- rags to sit on (optional)
- a grassy hill
- Treats (like yummy cheese dippers from The Laughing Cow® because we love to snack!)
Here are some other fun things we have done or on our to do list. These range in prices–I just kind of pick and choose what works best for time/weather/expense. And I always seem to have coupon books/Groupon/ or things from the kids school with discounts.
- Movies (we have a $2 theater)
- Go to a playground you haven’t been too before
- Bike ride to get snow cones or other treats
- Miniature golf (or create your own course)
- Bowling
- picnic (we always hike up a little ways to enjoy the views while we picnic!)
- Trampoline Park (this can be a little more expensive but my kids LOVE it!)
- Feed ducks (find a pond or water source and go for a walk with some bread!)
- Zoo
- Make Smoothies (I always just google Jamba Juice recipe)
- Hot pools or swimming (we can go free at our gym on Saturday)
- campout in your backyard (or living room)
- Frisbee Golf
- Ice skating
- Roller skating
- Rock Climbing
- Find a beach and play! (they have sand castle stuff at the dollar store!)
- Take the kids to the grocery store and have them each pick out their own flavor of ice cream
- Geocaching! (we did this camping and my kids LOVED it!)
- Build a fort
- Build a campfire and cook smores
- Visit a museum/aquariam
- Set up a hammock
- pottery or painting class
- Cardboard slide
- Fly kites
- Paddleboard or canoe (find a place to rent)
- Put a blanket and pillows in the back of the truck and go star gazing
- laser tag
- Game tournament (board game, card game, kinect or wii)
- Make homemade ice cream
- Hot air balloon (okay. this is on MY bucket list!)
- Be a tourist in our own town (make sure to check out your local library and town for fun activities! We have princess parties, movies in the park, concerts in the park, animal exhibits, plays )
- air matress in the backyard and watch a movie on the laptop!
These are all pretty easy as far as planning goes. Just grab your keys, kids, and some snacks! We are currently obsessed with these Cheese Dippers–The Laughing Cow’s rich, creamy cheese along with crunchy breadsticks. The individual, portable packaging makes it a perfect snack to savor on-the-go–Whether it’s snacking at my son’s football game or a quick treat in between sledding down a hill!
and I love that each serving provides an excellent source of calcium and 4 grams of protein! (oh! and I have a coupon for you so you can try your own! HEAD HERE !)
If you are looking for fun things that are more along the “crafty side” Here is a fun roundup!
A lot of these can be adapted to cold weather too! Not just summer!
