Fun Floral wall that you can do at home!

Okay. Listen! I don’t normally decorate the inside of closets. (I mean, I would LOVE too… but I’ve got a lot of closets and not  much time. BUT my daughters room is the exception. She never…ever shuts her closet doors (I don’t know if it’s because she’s 7…and doesn’t know how to shut anything…or if it’s a “monster” thing) Either way, they are ALWAYS open! And right across from her closet is her window that is the front of the house. So I wanted to make sure that if she was going to leave them open they would at least be cute!

Enter Royal Design Studio Stencils! logo

I love the big floral trend (maybe a little too much!) I painted some in my daughters room and everyone commented that they wish they could paint flowers like that! ANd so I am here to show you that YOU CAN! (using an awesome stencil!  diy floral wall--that you can recreate! so cute from a girl and a glue gun

Here is the before:  closet before

The polka dots were done when we first moved in! You can recreate them using THIS STENCIL! (and actually… putting the polka dots and flowers together would be totally adorable! closet sneak peek kids room girls

The stencil I used is the deco flower stencil

But look at all these fun flowers! If I was doing a whole wall I would grab random sizes of each one (they have craft, furniture and wall stencils–so all the range of sizes is great!) and you could create an AMAZING floral wall!  floral stencils

I taped up the stencil where I wanted it. floral stencil

and traced around just the edges trace edge Then painted it about 1/2 inch outside of your pencil marks with your underneath color! paint along edge

After the underneath is dry, line up your stencil and paint. (You will want a nice stencil brush and make sure it’s not dripping with paint! (make sure to check out HERE for great stenciling tips!) floral diy wall

(Keep in mind that you will want to rotate the stencil for each flower you paint so they aren’t 100% identical)

Then you just keep adding until you are happy with your results!

I added some leaves and swirlies and other random easy shapes. (These flowers are  beautiful all on it’s own though!)

You can add middles to them… painted floral wall diy or polka dots or different colors! floral wall stencil how to

Check out these flowers! These are all ones that can be replicated with stencils–just add leaves!

I tried to leave open spots so when I put up baskets or crates up there it wouldn’t overtake or cover it…so keep that in mind when you are painting.  closet wall with flowers

And pay attention to the colors. I used the same pinks and blues on each side but swapped what color was on bottom and on top! They look so different!  large floral wall art

Let’s talk about colors! When I start a new room redo I spend hours picking colors (cause I like to complicate my life!) I always buy a gallon of the main color and then get these little sample sizes in all the other colors (cause I love color!) They are the perfect size! I just mark the top so I know who’s room they go with!  paint colors

So these colors are the same I used on my fun thrifted desk! paint-color see the fun desk HERE (also using a Royal design Studio stencil!) desk-for-little-girls-room-repainted-and-stencil-inside-of-drawers-for-a-pop-of-color--543x2000

I also used it for the frames on her wall (sneak peek! I only have two more things until I can show you! I’m so excited!)

I just love that I don’t have to think about colors when I go to paint something! BUT if you are looking for paint…Royal Design has awesome Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in lots of fun colors (chalk paint is AWESOME!!) Annie-SloanColour-Card-front1

I also added some command strips on the inside of her doors for extra storage! command strips

So there you go–a closet that I don’t have to be embarrassed of when the doors are left open! polka dot closet
