okay….so yesterday you got to see my fun pink flamingo (go here) and I totally thought I should explain about the wall in case anyone looked super closely! alright…when we moved in…my kids were so sad! The house we moved is literally 3 times bigger and I was joyous to leave the old house..but it was where they grew up and where their friends and school was. SO I tried to get them excited and told them they could help me decide what to do with their room! And my 6 year old was ADAMANT that she needed to paint the wall. her. not me. Her.
yeah. have we met? Hi. I’m Kim…super anal.
I’m totally thinking…NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. nope. never.
I’ll just sway her into something else…I bought a giant canvas for my last daughter and she painted a cool picture for me….
but my 6 year old is stubborn (dad trait) super stubborn..and anytime we talked room she brought it up.
and finally I embraced it…kinda.
I painted the wall pink (actually just the lower half) Then I bought one shade darker on the paint chip. and gave her a paint brush and laid out a mat.
and she went to town…
She painted minnie mouse, a star, a sun, a butterfly, her name a few times…she even wrote littlest pet shop (ltst pet shp) I was totally trying to unclench my jaw and my bum and be a cool mom. But I tell you what…that meant more to her than anything. And realistically half the time I don’t even really notice it…very subtle. Did you spot it in yesterday’s picture???
It was a compromise for sure…but she still pulls everyone in her room to see her painted wall!!! I love how happy it made her!!!

She definitely takes after mom – very creative! I did notice it and just figured you had done another cool wall treatment!! She did awesome and it’s fabulous that she is so proud of it! Great compromise using just a shade darker!

way to go! let her creativity shine… It would be super hard for me to let my kids do this… but I do love the idea of just getting one shade darker of the same color.. it works!!! And you can always paint over it ;o)
