jolly rancher suckers

i saw these fun jolly rancher suckers in last months family fun magazine and thought it would be the perfect treat for  family home evening. (its’ the trifecta: easy. not messy. yummy) DSC02568

i bought this bag of jolly ranchers at walmart for like 2.88.

and the sucker sticks are at walmart and joanns for pretty cheap…

DSC02570 supplies

i let each of my kids pick out 3 jolly ranchers and you place them right by each other….on tinfoil..then parchment paper (i used freezer paper and it worked great)

they take 5-7 minutes at 275 degrees.

we had to watch the melting process…

pull out and put sticks in immediately (roll them to get the candy over them so they don’t fall out)

they cool pretty darn fast too–so we didn’t have to wait too long.

(i’ve also seen sugar cookies with the middles cut out and a jolly rancher in the middle melted. makes it all pretty. photo 3 (3)sucker

my kids got in a clawing fight–(see the scratches by my son’s eye?) i’m all, “husband, why didn’t you do anything?” and he’s all, “i did. i told them to fight like real people and use fists.”
