This Unicorn costume is a pretty easy DIY (cause I Love easy!) It’s cute and easy to adapt into whatever color of Unicorn you are going for!
Here is what you need:
- Fake colorful fur (got mine at Joann)
- Leotard
- Tights
- headband
- stuffing
- felt
- hair color (optional)
- jewels (optional)
- glue gun
- foam core board (for wings)
Let’s start with the hooves ! This fabric was the inspiration for the color themed! And the hooves are alot easier than looks (totally hot glue!) I actually cut a rectangle and hot glued the two side together. The fur is pretty forgiving and hides the seams.
I made it so it fits her calf perfectly. She just pulls them up like leg warmers!
Made smaller versions for her hand-
The tail is made the same way–except we went to a point instead of a tube.
Next up is the unicorn horn! You can make this how big or small you want! The bigger it gets…the heavier and falls off a lot easier! So keep it in mind!
I made a cone shape (looks like this)
and hot glued it together on the side (it will look like an ice cream come. Then I added stuffing and hot glued it to the headband. Added some gold string, ears, and lots of flowers for some added unicorn pizzaz.
The hair I tried to make a “mane” by adding little pony tails all in a row. Her request was this fun spray hair color! (notice the unicorn earrings!)
We added some makeup and jewels on her face…and then she decided she needed wings. (big ones) she literally had me draw a bunch out and she picked the exact ones she wanted! I made the feather look by adding hot glue on the foam core board before painting with white glitter spray paint.
We attached them on the back using some velcro. She realized the wings make it hard to run and play (and get in door ways) so she didn’t wear them trick or treating!
So there you go..a nice and easy unicorn costume!
