This post is in collaboration with Hobby Lobby. As with everything I share, I only post brands and products that I love!
I’m not sure if you have been in a Hobby Lobby…but it’s pretty much a crafty person’s dream. Filled to the brim with everything you need to create ANYTHING you want! So when I got tasked with making something springy for my front door…You shouldn’t be surprised that I walked out of that store with enough supplies to make 8 wreaths. (I wish I was exaggerating!)
Here is my cart for proof!
When I’m trying to decide what to do I like to go armed with a color scheme. Spring is pinks and yellows and greens and turquoise in my head…I saw this striped scrapbook paper and thought it would look so good to balance out the floral!
Then I walk around and find anything that goes in my color scheme…paper, baskets, letters, ribbon, etc!
This aisle was so fun too! So many fun ideas!
After I had put everything I liked in my cart (or sometimes I take pictures so I can remember) I reevaluate. What looks good together…what doesn’t fit…etc.
Sometimes that involves me taking up an aisle. I’m a visual person so I like to see it in front of me!
Then after I have a “game plan” I go grab anything I need to finish it off!–a wreath form, glue sticks, command strips etc! (I hate being in the middle of a project and realizing you need something from the store!)
What I ended up loving the most was this window frame with chicken wire. I knew it would be a perfect backdrop to put a wreath on…(or even just to use in the background of my blogging photos!) I could paint it white, or turquoise and would look great with words or flowers on it!
I grabbed a wreath form that wasn’t too big to overtake it. and found this moss in the floral section! (I loved the color of it) I hot glued it around and got it all covered up.
These wood discs actually didn’t have a plan of action when I bought them–I just thought I could do SOMETHING with them! They fit perfectly behind the wreath. I took some scrapbook paper and glued it on the disc.
It added such a fun little pop behind the green wreath.
I hot glued it to the back…then I took my favorite wreath building tool–command strips!
I hate committing to anything! Maybe next year I will want to swap out my wreaths or add something different. So I attach it all together using these command strips. Perfect if you are noncommittal like me! (I also use them to hang the wreath on the door!)
And here we are. TECHNICALLY You can leave it like this! BUT I love COLOR!
I had bought so many fun things that I wanted to use all of it! I hemmed and hawed and couldn’t decide. So I picked them all!
First up! Giant hi! I love fun letters–and Hobby Lobby has so many in all shapes and sizes. I instantly fell in love with the cursive one! If a giant hi doesn’t make you feel welcome in a house, I don’t know what will!
I just painted it a coat of pink.
and distressed it a little bit.
(I also tried covering it with floral scrapbook paper…but it didn’t stand out enough. I want people to see what it says from the street!)
Second option!–Adding a flower pot, watering can or basket.
Hobby Lobby has TONS of cute holders that would be so fun a wreath to fill with flowers! I mean look at all those colors!
They also had just the galvanized ones–you could change the flowers out with each season! How fun would that be! I just added a little foam to the bottom of my watering can to keep the flowers in place!
And last…good old spring flowers!
Hobby Lobby has the most gorgeous assortment of fake flowers! GORGEOUS! It’s super easy to get overwhelmed–I just picked a color scheme and went around and grabbed any flowers that fit in that color scheme and bought ones that worked together! You don’t want all the same size–so many sure you are grabbing big, medium and smalls!
Using wire cutters I just cut about 1 inch down from the flower and then I can just poke it right into my wreath! I also cut off the leaves and stuck them in here and there! I can move them around until I like the arrangement. (This yellow flower is my favorite! Isn’t it fun!)
I literally can’t pick a favorite! Which one do you like best?
AND–it’s so cute that you can even take it off your door and put it up on your mantel or shelf!
Like I mentioned before–I use command hooks to hang my wreaths on the door. Those strips are great so your wreath doesn’t “bang” against the door when kids are slamming it shut. AND–since your wreath is already secure…You can fake a fun “holder”. I sometimes just run scrapbook paper or fabric up over my door to make it look like it’s holding my wreath in place!
Okay guys! Head to Hobby Lobby and grab some fun things and go create your own wreath! (and don’t forget your coupon!)
