Today was ANOTHER snow day here in IDAHO! SO MUCH SNOW GUYS!!!! Since we have snow coming out our ears…we decided to do something fun with it! I thought snowcones would be super easy…but of course…the snowcone syrup is not for sale at any stores nearby! So I’ve got an easy snowcone syrup recipe!
It takes
- 1/2 cup water
- 1Â cup sugar
- Koolaid or drink flavoring
You bring the sugar and water to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Then add flavoring!
Mix together and cool!Â
I wanted a rich syrup since the snow dilutes it a little bit. You might want to tinker around the ratio. I’ve seen some recipes that are more sugar and water for one packet.
After the syrup was cooled, I took a tupperware and filled it up with “clean snow” meaning…it wasn’t touched by dog or kids or snowblower. I pressed it into the cup. The snow was light and fluffy so to make it snow cone consistency I had to make pack it in there.
Drizzled the syrup on it. Since it was so rich, once the top was covered it soaked down to the bottom–so you don’t need to saturate it!
and enjoy!!! It was super yummy! Now if we could only find a tiger’s blood koolaid packet I would be in heaven!
We stored the leftover syrup in a airtight container in the fridge!
