Guys…this is the crappiest photos ever! But I had to show you this super cute dress I made for my daughter’s birthday. At 11:00 pm the night before her birthday (In true Kimbo fashion) and thus…the craptastic photos.
This is fantastic scrap buster (because I save everything larger than a credit card!) All my amazing heat transfer vinyl is from Expressions Vinyl (heat transfer is the kind you use on fabric!) I literally just took some scissors….grabbed all my scraps and started cutting!
(you can google or pinterest flower designs to get something to copy!)
The trick with heat transfer is the layering. The top comes with a carrier sheet that protects it when you iron it. At this point I took a picture of how I wanted it to look (above) and then removed everything except for what was on bottom! and iron those pieces on (I did about 3-5 seconds just to get it stuck on) Then peel off the carrier sheet (because you don’t want to put more vinyl on top of the carrier sheet) Then add the next layer. At this point you don’t want to iron directly onto the vinyl without the carrier sheet….so I cover the whole thing with a multi use paper sheet and iron the next layer.
Peel off transfer tape and repeat!
FYI: Glitter is thick and have a little texture so it can’t be ironed on top of. So make sure to keep that in mind. Nothing can be on top of the glitter! See the arrow. I forgot this little tip and ironed a corner over.
When it’s all said and done….I love it! It totally took a cheap walmart dress into a fun sassy outfit for my 8 year old!Â
Make sure to grab some heat transfer vinyl and not to throw anything away!
