My sister has this friend- and this friend for the past 5 years has put on Luke’s Loves blanket drive for Project Linus.
Luke’s Loves started as a way to remember their sweet baby boy when he passed away—
And Last year they collected 200 blankets! (woot!) This year she asked my sister to ask me if I would throw it out there in blogland so they could beat their previous 200 blanket goal.
and I thought…GO BIG OR GO HOME. and since I’m already home…it’s GO BIG TIME! I reached out to all my blogger friends and have turned it into a HUGE 4 week blogger event! All things blankets!
This particular charity just speaks VOLUMES to me. My kids each had a blanket they got when they were babies. And those things got dragged around with them everywhere. It was such a comfort to them. It helped them sleep, it soothed them when they were hurt. There are still on their beds when they sleep–My 7 year old still tries to sneak her blanket where ever we go!Seriously…this is it..totally worn and threadbare and LOVED.
Project Linus collects and donates blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. They provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” It’s such a great cause!
So for the next month I’m going to be sharing Blanket posts from all the amazing bloggers that have signed up –blanket posts of my own…and a whole bunch of themed blanket roundups to really inspire you!
There are a couple ways YOU can participate!
A. Make a blanket! They accept NEW, HANDMADE, WASHABLE, blankets and afghans for giving to children ages 0-18 years. Many sizes are appropriate depending on chapter need. For example, blankets could be as small as 36″ × 36.” The majority of Project Linus blankets are about 40″ × 60″, or what is called “crib size.” Blankets could be as large as twin size for teens. (You can head HERE and click on FAQs.)
You can either go HERE and find out where you can donate Locally (just click on your state)–Or you can mail it directly to me

yes. I’m still typing….
You can stay connected with Luke’s Loves on Facebook HERE to get a tally of how many blankets donated so far (63!) and other fun things–like: ” We have heard of a need for blankets in Guatemala. The LDS senior sister missionaries serving in Guatemala make newborn kits to hand out at the maternity centers. Many babies go home in a disposable diaper and wrapped in newspaper. We would like to donate some of the blankets from Luke’s Loves to help them out. These blankets do have certain requirements. The blankets need to be 40-45 inches square. Two pieces of baby flannel sewn together would be great or one piece hemmed is also acceptable. They need to be able to fit in a gallon sack.”
and Project Linus is on facebook HERE
Wanted to give a quick shout out to all the amazing bloggers who jumped on board, Kim from 733blog that designed the new Luke’s loves logo, Riley blake design for donating fabric, and Fairfield World for batting.
