Okay…we have a new series…that I wanted to start at the beginning of January…but since i need to take my OWN advice and get organized it’s coming to you late! (for future reference…every time you see this picture..you MUST sing it…) Here is the jist…I’m going to pick one spot of my house I want to organize…(spot, drawer, cupboard, closet, under beds, space, etc! anything goes~) Then I am going to linkup all the fun different ways to get-ur done. Let’s clean house…literally.
Our first week is….dun dun dun….the closet.
I don’t know about you…but I hold onto clothes. Ones I love on the hanger…but not on me. (like my body will magically grow bigger boobs to fill out the shirt). Clothes I USED to love–even though I would never wear them now. Clothes that don’t fit–but in case I decide to get pregnant..or lose a bunch of weight then they are there justincase…..They all need to go!!!
I have so much dumb crap stuffed in the closet that I can’t find the clothes I love!!! I have shoes that are a half size too small…that I love…but KILL my feet! I haven’t worn them in 2 years…. and there they sit.
Kiss it goodbye! You can sell these clothes on facebook (there are lots of groups on there for selling in your area)You can also sell the namebrand stuff HERE and now they have tons of cash for clothes stores (ours is called fashion runway!) and of course you could just donate them! There are lots of people who love good hand me downs!
Now…suck it up. Grab your big girl panties (you don’t have to toss those!) And start sorting! Toss anything you haven’t worn in a year. Ask yourself this question:
Stick to the rule that if you buy a new shirt or pants…you have to get rid of a shirt or pant.
have you tried this method: 40 hangers!
40 hangers! I have 40 hangers just between my white and gray clothes!!! But she has great advice!
If you honestly think…I can not part with ANY of these clothes…then let’s play a game. Have your kids or husband come in and take out 5 shirts at random…Ones they haven’t seen you wear recently.
Now…go in and try to figure out what ones they took. It’s pretty hard. I usually maybe can find one. maybe. sometimes my clothes fall off their hanger and fall behind in the back of the closet…and I never know their missing until I clean it out! Who know how long they have been there!!
Here’s a fun tip—turn every hanger in your closet backwards. If you wear something you can turn the hanger back normal. At the end of the year whatever clothes you haven’t worn (ie backwards hangers) those are the ones you toss!!!
Okay…now that you have dejunked it….Let’s organize it!
(fyi…I’m leaving jewerly and scarves off this for another post. just clothes and shoes!)
are you a tank lover? great way to store them:
use the same method for scarves:
or even hats!
curtain rods or s hooks do great with purses….
source
use a shoe rack for shoes…OR tanks tops, underwear or socks!!!! Utilize the backs of doors!
keep your boots standing tall with a pool noodle (find them at the dollar store)
a basket for flip flops
or check out this great post
I like to keep mine on a shelf (i bought this one) get one with adjustable shelves and you can customize it!!!
source
these ledges are perfect if you have a high heel collection
or store your shoes underneath
you can find these clear containers at the dollar store or walmart
fun belt hangers…(you can buy one here)
these work great for bras as well!!!
You can buy one similar HERE
command hooks are my bff…..I have them EVERYWHERE! and they are so great if you rent!
If your closet is small in space…use some pop tabs to hook hangers together
add some fun vinyl to keep everything organized…
also love this set up!
add some baskets (from a dollar store!) for all your little stuff
ever thought about hanging up your pants on shower curtain hooks???
use every last drop of your closet!
don’t forget the bottom of the closet! a shelf keeps it perfectly organized!
use some tabs to keep sections separated…(buy some here)
and if your closet is too small…take it to an armoire!
okay..I know are closets are not all going to look like this:
but if I could just find the shoes I want in 1 minute or less I will happy!

I love this new series and I cannot wait for more installments. The advice on if you would buy it now or not is great – It will comes in handy when I am ready to tackle my own closet later this year. Right now I’m actually tackling my kitchen cupboards which has been a little scary to say the least – and we’ve only been in the house a year and a half.

These are hangers that have a longer hook so the garment hangs closer to the rod saving on precious vertical space. I’m all about the space saving hangers!
