I AM brave and beautiful

I am Brave and Beautiful – a beauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. My blogging friend Megan of Brassy Apple wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they looked like without make up and I joined in!! Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “

Megan and her friend Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces have been the team behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.

Me along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes have decided to be Brave and Beautiful! You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either! Just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instgram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. ALSO, if you tag it with a second hashtag – #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat’s attention since she was the inspiration behind it all!

Are you brave and beautiful? I am, here I go!me buisnesssw

no makeup 3

okay. let’s get real for a minute. This was hard. A lot harder than i thought (or care to admit!) I have said many a time how much I love being a girl and getting to wear makeup. I love that if I have a zit I can cover that sucker up with foundation and powder. I love that it smooths out my face. and to go one further..I love that when I’m posting a picture of me to my blog or business cards I can use all these handy little features on picmonkey and freshen me up a little bit…cover up my insecurity and imperfections…

picmonkey

a little air brushing here…a little wrinkle reducer here…add a little color…airbrushI think it’s hard for me to strip it all off and show me all natural. Nowadays…with all these social media…it’s so easy to get caught up peering into what seems like people’s PERFECT lives. It’s not every often that people share on instagram or facebook the tuna helper meal they whipped up last minute cause their kids pleaded to have a real dinner (ahem..me on saturday) or their unshowered ratsnest hair…We don’t want people to think less of us….(even though EVERYONE HAS BEEN THERE AT SOME POINT) we Would MUCh rather put up pictures of our pinterest worthy house…our kids that are dressed in the cutest outfit from target…and our 5 course dinner we have worked on all day and of course our  perfect hair with our perfect makeup….(with our  flattering filters and apps! I have 6 editing apps just for faces.)

but guess what.

we are all human. we all have flaws. we aren’t perfect at EVERYTHING. I think I’m a pretty bad*%$ crafter.  but guess what. I hate cooking. I would hire a maid in two minutes flat if I wasn’t so cheap. I have chipped fingernail polish about 25 days out of 27. I have forgotten meetings. I have forgotten laundry in the washer. I have forgotten to pick my kid up from cross country.

You don’t have to try so hard….

Let’s all get real. take a breath. you can do it. cause we are allll doing it.

  13. I haven’t a clue how to do this hashtag thing, but I must say that the ladies I have seen without makeup are lovely! Being old and not working outside of my home, I rarely wear makeup – I do try to spruce up the old face with makeup for church or when I go to the big town – I don’t want the big city folks to think that those of us who live in the boonies are totally out of it!! Most days it’s moisturizer only. We women are beautiful without all the makeup, and this is just proving it!!!
