I am a HUGE fan of decorating with photos. I love my kids. I think they ARE the cutest. and i want my walls plastered with their faces. (that way when they are sassing me i can look at the cute picture and be reminded that i DO love them.)
so this is one of my most favoritest series in out there! (put on by the GREAT kristen duke!)
she is filling the entire month of February with 2 guest posts a day….5,000 dollars in giveaways….and it’s chock full of so much decorating goodness (perfect timing since i’m trying to get some good inspiration to make my house unlame.
and GUESS WHAT! today i’m up!
I have this wall. it’s kinda the bam wall you see when you walk into the living room. (besides the giant tv and fireplace) it’s the wall that separates my kitchen and living room.
awhile back i posted on instagram that i hated it. i wanted it to have a “moment”. and at this particular moment i had put up frames where there existing nails just so i didn’t have to vacumn around said frames.
i had no ideas. none.
i thought about doing a collage of my family pictures..but i already have a collage in my entryway…
and is there such a thing as too many collages?
i contemplated painting it an accent color..but it has an arch and is connected all the way down the hall.
I FINALLY decided that i wanted some of my kids pictures up there…on a large scale.
I snapped some photos. uploaded them to costco 20×30 for 8.99! and then i grabbed some foam core board and spray adhesive and laid them on (to make them fit on the wall better i trimmed them down so they are now 30x17ish.)
(total cost for photos is $30 )
(you can see the arch and how it connects in this picture!)
so cheap for giant art! i love that as they grow i can swap out new picture without breaking the bank!
but I still found them lacking…
and i stumbled upon the GREAT cut it out frames. I love this company soooo much (and they are only an hours drive!!) i see so much frames in my future!!!
(for those of you who don’t know…cut it out has the greatest assortment of shaped frames! they are beautiful and adds that wow factor to any wall! (i have linked to a bunch of fun projects at the end of this post!!)
I contacted the owner (who is about the nicest person ever) and he designed a custom GIANT frame to go around those 3 pictures!
its HUGE!!!! ready to see my living room “moment??”
(as this frame sat against my bedroom wall..i thought it would be really fun hung up with a bunch of small frames inside of it!–or use it as a giant cork board!!! i might have to get a giant frame for every room in my house!) you can order custom orders from cut it out too! and make sure follow them HERE on facebook for all sorts of fun!
i’m still on the search for a credenza to go underneath the frame– like this one
OKAY!
go HERE to see all the awesome decorating with pictures ideas thus far! you will have to go through each post to enter all the awesome giveaways!!! (it’s worth it! and once you are a fan of her on facebook…you can use that as entry 5 times on each giveaway!!!)

I have used similar frames before and had a hard time painting! Acrylic craft paint would not cover, so I tried spray gray primer.. finally after about an entire can it covered.. Can you share your painting tricks ?? Thanks! Your giant frame is awesome!

Hi! I love your huge frame! I’m thinking I want to replicate it. Do you know the size of the opening of your frame and what is the name of the style of the frame? Thanks so much!!
Kimbo says
it’s a newport frame…and the opening is i think about 50 inches by 34 inches. if you contact ken from cut it out frames he probably still has it saved in his system and can replicate it exactly!
