{I have been compensated for this post. But…as with everything i post, I only share the products I love.
Today we are getting our party on with Apple Barrel Craft Paint. I have three kids. So i split my party time with them for each holiday. Halloween was my son’s class. Christmas was daughters. and Now it’s Valentines! and I get to help out at daughters Kindergarten class party! I wanted to make a simple easy game that would keep those 5 year olds entertained!!!
the jist is this..you have 4 tries(arrows) to get in the heart hole! you get it in..you win a prize!! (all from the dollar store)
I got a box of awesome Apple Barrel craft paint
look at those fun colors! (I’m no stranger to apple barrel..i might need an intervention!
I couldn’t decide what color to use…so i used them all!!!
I even used the box it came in! so this project is CHEAP! I just cut a heart out of the box and covered it in a base coat of white
PAINT TIP: if you have fun bright colors….you will want to start with a project that is white to reallllly make those color POP! If i would have left this box brown I would have had to put about 5 coats of yellow….!
this paint is epic! it totally goes on smooth and dries fast! (which is MAJOR bonus points for me cause i have ZERO patience!)
do you see my tray over there with all my leftover paint..?
I always let me kids use my leftovers. they just grab some paper and get to painting! they love it and I love it cause this paint is a water base formula so the clean up is a breeze!
for the arrows…..
i just painted stripes on skewers…
and cut out hearts and the “tail feathers” of the arrows with felt! hot glued them directly to the skewers. (the pointy part of the skewer goes inside the hearts and then glued shut…so no sharp edges!
it’s a super fun game that we have been playing all week. My kids throw an arrow before bedtime and if they get it in they get to stay up an extra 5 minutes!
it will be so easy to take into school…just turn the box upside down and put the arrows inside as well as the prizes….
I’m so excited! i love those cute kindergartens! and i can’t wait until they get to play my game!
i also painted a couple cardboard hearts with a little stand that you could throw the arrows at to try to knock over!!! (in case you wanted to go this route!
either way it’s a super fun party idea! I will be back on Thursday to show off a roundup of other fun valentine classroom party games!!! (go HERE for that post!)
and when i’m done with valentines…i think i just might frame those arrows! love them

Very cool- love all those colors! I took the good ole’ “dress up in the oversize clothes, run to the other end and take them off” game to my son’s Christmas party and the teacher about had a heart attack because of all the noise while the kids played 😛 This one would go over better! Pinned as well 🙂

I can see my girls loving something like this, although since they’re 2 and 3 maybe we’ll go with bean bags into the heart. 🙂

SOOOO cute! Love, love, love the colors you did. I’m sure it took some extra effort, but so worth it. Pinned that like crazy. 🙂

I did this for my son’s kindergarten class party! The kids loved it! This was the easiest game to make and their favorite game of the year. I’m still smiling 3 days later! Thanks so much!
