but I will admit it has snuck up on me!
I had this week with my son’s preschool…so we made some mom inspired crafts to give to the kids moms…
I just made these mom cards
they can stand up…or fold up small
then I found a bunch of foam stickers from valentines day….so we decorated them up.
I made a mom stencil for you…..but am having troubles putting it in a downloaded place…so you will just have to deal with this…..
to go with our mom cards:
and you might remember this fingerprint from sculpey thing:
the kids rolled out their sculpey…cut out the hearts…pressed their finger in and added a hole.
i baked it while they were at “recess”
and then added a keychain
then I put the card and keychain in a decorated “lunch bag” (that’s what the kids kept calling it)
now what mom wouldn’t love that…
you know…they don’t stay this small forever. (sniffle)
and if you are really up a creek this mothers day…..you can whip up a levi apron

If I received that keychain from my son, I'd probably cry. That is awesome! :')

Aww those keychains and your comments about them not staying small forever reminded me about the hot pad I have with my baby's hand print on it. He made it in preschool for mother's day. You know the baby that is now 22 and would rather go to the beach between semesters than to come see his mother who moved 5 hours away 4 months ago. Tell me again why I still have that hot pad – LOL
In all fairness, he did call last night and say there has been a change of plans and he is coming to see me after all. Guess I'll keep him and the hotpad.

So I just have to tell you how much I love your blog. I have been a closet follower for a long time and have finally made it public! 🙂 Ha ha! Anyway, thanks for sharing all your amazing ideas. I think that you have a great sense of humor that comes through in every post . . . if we were neighbors, I think that we would be friends! 🙂

Hello! I love the key chain! I have never used polymer clay before, but would really like to make this piece.
One question: how does the keyring get onto the heart? Just a good prying? I really appreciate your guidance (or anyone else who is reading… )
Thanks!
Erin

basically…YES! a good prying! don't put the hole to far from the edge not make the clay too think (1/3 of inch i think are we these are) and it's not to hard to get it on!

I just tried making a couple for mothers day with my children in daycare…so are they suppose to be hard? I made mine and after two hours they are still bendable? I did not make them thick at all…even tried cooking a few longer? Are they suppose to bendable a little or do they harden in a good long day?
Thank you so much!
Kimbo says
They are supposed to be hard! Double check the heat settings. They will have a little give…but I wouldn’t call it “bendable”! Good luck!

The best gifts for kids and parents, fingerprint jewellery is amazing.

I want to experiment with this but thought I would ask if you have tried this first…rather than a keyring would it work as a magnet?
Thanks!
Kimbo says
yes! i should work great…just make sure you have good adhesive to stick it the magnet!

hi. i’ve never used this clay before and went to the website to purchase….how many hearts does one 2oz bar make? wondering how many bars to purchase. and how long to bake them? thanks… 🙂
Kimbo says
it takes about 15 minutes–and 2 oz bars make probably 8–they go pretty far.

I am going to do this for my class maybe include one for Grammy, Gramps and Dad

I am going to make these with my kids at the Library:)

HOW DO YOU MAKE THE HEART KEYCHAIN?
Wendy says
Can they be painted or can you make the fingerprint colored?
Kimbo says
yes! you just have to add a clear coat of spray paint to prevent rubbing it off!!!!
Sarah says
Hi, could you tell me at what temperature you baked these and for how long?
Kimbo says
275 for 25 minutes (the thicker they are the longer you will cook them though!
