Prayer Pillowcases

We had been struggling with what to give our primary children this year for their birthdays.  The first year we gave them their own book of mormon and we decorated scripture bags. Last year for birthdays we gave journals.  I happened to be scrolling through sugardoodle and came across this poem about not forgetting your PJS (Prayer, Journal, Scripture..) It was as if we planned it!  So instead of doing a bunch or prayer rocks we decided to do Prayer Pillowcases.  We took this pile of fabric… (thanks to a joanns super sale!)
Added some time on the sewing machine to make the pillowcases
There are two ways to make these prayer pillowcases

First way to make a pillowcase: stencil

Made a few homemade stencils.

You can print these off and use them as a stencil to cut out your prayer.

and a fabric marker. IMG_3628

Just add a pillow!

Second way to make prayer pillowcases: heat transfer vinyl

You can totally do this with iron on vinyl
Just cut out with vinyl (backwards) …and peel away the extra. (if you need help with heat transfer vinyl than check out my hand holding tutorial)  how to iron on expressions vinyl
Press with iron and peel up and you have cute prayer pillowcases!
Now if only they remember to say their prayers it will be a SUCCESS.
